The date for this year's festival will be March 7, 2009. Nomination information will be sent out after November 1, 2008. If you do not receive information for nominating students, you can contact me or download the nomination form or register online. Nomination deadline will be December 21, 2008. Accepted students names will be available starting January 16, 2009. Music will be mailed /delivered starting January 19, 2009. |
Honor Band Selection Process/CriteriaStudents are recommended for the festival by their director. Students submitted should be the top players in their section. Our festival music tends to be on the challenging side. Please see past programs for examples. Students will be placed by audition at the festival. This has assured that students come prepared to play. Most students selected for the 7th Grade band are at least in their 2nd lesson book and can play at least 1 octave chromatic scale. Most students selected for the 8th Grade Band are in their 3rd lesson book or playing advanced literature. We will not be including 6th grade or 9th grade students this year in the festival. I try to pick at least 2 students from every school. I try to pick your first and second choices if instrumentation allows. If you have a selected/participating student who cannot attend, please feel free to replace him/her with another equal student from your school (same part/instrument and grade). Please contact me with the name of the student for the program.
